PEST SPECS

PROGRAMME SPECIFICATIONS

 

Bio Tech provides a complete and customised pest programme to all Its clients.

This programme consists of:

  • One or more treatment visits undertaken on a monthly basis
  • Implementation of a food safety file
  • Audit preparation and facilitation

A treatment programme is designed to cater for the specific areas within each
client’s unique facility.

Our treatment programme typically consist of Flying Insect, Rodent
and Crawling Insect programmes.

Our treatment methods incorporate the installation of tamperproof bait stations, mechanical catch traps, insect light trap units and crawling insect monitors.

These products allow Bio Tech the ability to establish and monitor activity
of the above mentioned pests on the specific pest monitoring logs, within a
Food Safety file.

Each of these pest monitoring products is numbered and indicated on a site map, in order to facilitate the location of these bait stations, fly traps,
catch traps and monitors.

Rodents:

Standard operating procedures for pest activity including pet activity levels.

The critical limit for rodent activity is 1.

If at any time the limit is reached, a further investigation will be conducted to determine the root cause and actions to follow. A follow up procedure for rodents is to be instituted i.e. every second day for three consecutive visits until no further activity is noted. A seven day follow up is to be conducted thereafter. The limits are dependent on risk accociated to the product and/or the facility.

The acitivty levels of Rodents are as follows:

Light: 1 to 5

Medium: 6 to 9

Heavy: 10 and above

Flying Insects:

Standard operating procedures for pest activity including pet activity levels.

The critical limit for flying insect activity is as follows:

Housefly: 115, Green Bottle Fly: 25, Lesser House Fly: 65, Fruit Fly: 50, Moth: 70, Night Flyers: 60

Pest Control Preventative Solutions

 

  1. Good hygiene & Good housekeeping = PEST CONTROL
  2. Spilled garbage – keep in sealed containers
  3. Poor storage practice off the floor and walls to ensure frequent cleaning and inspection
  4. Store on pallets, moving easily periodically disrupt nesting
  5. Absolute cleanliness
  6. Careful refuse disposal
  7. Improved structural arrangement
  8. Physical and chemical pest control, use registered pest control companies
  9. No cracked drain covers, no cracks or holes in walls, lifts
  10. Good Housekeeping
  11. Stock management – storage of raw, packaging materials and finised goods
  12. Food leftovers collecting underneath or around mixers, domestic machines, sinks or in corners
